Filer for Teams

Runs on the AI infrastructure your company already has — down to the individual.

Filer works directly on top of the AI infrastructure your company has already built — GPUStack, Ollama, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. No new procurement, no central management console. It's simply a personal agent scoped to each person's own folder.

Free to use, even for enterprises — 100%.

Why teams need Filer

Company-wide AI initiatives — internal chatbots, ERP/CRM/SCM-integrated reports — may already be underway at your organization. But that infrastructure is usually only ever used inside those company-wide systems. The work that actually fills most of an employee's day — "my folder, my files" — still gets handled manually, or covered by a separate web AI subscription.

  • Did your company invest in an internal GPU server, only to have employees still paying for their own ChatGPT/Claude web subscriptions?
  • Is a security policy blocking company files from being uploaded to external AI tools — effectively blocking individual-level automation altogether?

Filer fills that gap. Point it at the local LLM or gateway your company has already built, and you can start individual-level automation — organizing, summarizing, drafting, notifications — without any additional subscription or duplicate spend.

To be clear: nothing is locked down. Bringing your own API key and using a frontier model (Claude, GPT, or any other) is just as free and just as supported. Filer isn't built to push you toward internal infrastructure — it's built for the organizations that have already built that infrastructure and are now looking for a real way to put it to use.

FAQ — Starting individual AI use on your own internal server

We already have an internal LLM server (GPUStack, Ollama, etc.). How do I connect Filer to it?

Just point Filer's model endpoint setting at your internal gateway's OpenAI-compatible address. No separate server build-out or middleware is required.

Does using Filer send company data outside the network?

When Filer is pointed at an internal endpoint, all inference stays inside your network — your files and their contents are never sent anywhere. Filer does send limited diagnostic telemetry (crash/usage signals only, no file content) to help us stabilize the product during this early stage — disclosed in our Terms of Service, and something we plan to make optional once Filer is more mature. No cloud account or authentication is required to run Filer itself.

If the whole team uses it, does IT need to install or manage anything centrally?

No. Each person installs Filer on their own machine and assigns an agent to their own folder. No central management console or license server is needed. It's convenient if IT shares the internal gateway's endpoint address, but that's the extent of it.

We already have an internal chatbot (a company-wide AI initiative). Why would we also need Filer?

Company-wide AI initiatives handle knowledge and workflows shared across the whole organization; Filer handles work at the level of an individual's folders and files. The two don't compete — they share the same infrastructure (the gateway). That means the GPU/model resources you've already invested in get used not just by company-wide systems but by individual work too, reducing the duplicate spend of a separate subscription.

Is it really completely free?

The Filer app and its bundled plugins are free. Cost only arises in two cases: (1) actual usage fees when you choose to connect a cloud model API directly, and (2) when you commission the Filer Team for a custom connector/plugin or a custom enterprise agent.

Do we have to use our internal server? Can we just use a frontier model with our own API key instead?

Absolutely — that's a completely free and fully supported option too. Filer doesn't require internal infrastructure to work. That said, most organizations that reach out to us have already built internal AI infrastructure and are specifically looking for a practical way to put it to individual-level use — which is the exact problem Filer was built to solve.

How do we integrate with internal systems (groupware, ERP/CRM/SCM, etc.)?

The Webhook plugin can forward events to many internal systems with an HTTP endpoint. If the integration you need isn't in the standard plugin list, you can check the community plugin registry — and if it's still not available, you can request custom development from the Filer Team (a paid support item).

How are per-folder permissions/security levels managed?

Each folder has a 7-tier trust level, ranging from read-only to fully auto-approved, giving fine-grained control over what gets auto-approved. It's set explicitly per folder in Settings — there's no single hardcoded default across every folder.

Which platforms are supported?

Windows is supported today; macOS support is targeted for H2 2026.
